Assessment & Examinations

The Assessment Policy explains how students are assessed throughout their studies at Immanuel. Students may be required to complete Module assessments, tests, assignments and examinations as applicable to their programme. Academic performance is evaluated according to the requirements established by Immanuel for the relevant programme. Students are responsible for completing and submitting their work as instructed. The policy also provides students with an understanding of how their academic progress is evaluated.

1. Purpose

The Assessment Policy sets out the general approach used by Immanuel Theology Educational Institute International to assess student learning and academic progress.

Assessment forms an important part of the student’s theological education and provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of the material covered in their studies.

2. Assessment Methods

Students may be assessed through a combination of:

  • Module tests
  • Question booklets
  • Assignments
  • Examinations
  • Other academic activities or assessments applicable to the student’s programme

The specific assessment requirements may differ according to the programme and academic level.

The 2026 Prospectus identifies tests, assignments and examinations as part of the academic requirements and provides for electronic submission of tests and assignments.

3. Submission of Assessments

Students are responsible for completing and submitting their assessments according to the instructions provided by Immanuel.

Where electronic submission is required, students must submit their work through the communication or submission method specified by Immanuel.

Students should ensure that their submissions are clearly identified with the student’s required details, including their name and student or registration number where applicable.

4. Student’s Own Work

All assessments submitted by a student must represent the student’s own work and understanding.

Students are expected to complete their academic work honestly and responsibly.

A student must not knowingly submit another person’s work as their own or misrepresent the source or nature of submitted work.

5. Marking and Results

Submitted assessments will be reviewed and marked by the appropriate Immanuel academic or administrative personnel.

Students will be informed of their results through the communication method used by Immanuel.

Where applicable, students may be required to achieve the required standard before progressing to the next stage of their studies.

6. Examinations

Where examinations form part of a student’s programme, the student is required to complete the examination requirements established by Immanuel.

Students will be provided with the relevant information regarding examination arrangements, requirements and submission procedures.

The 2026 Prospectus identifies examinations as part of the assessment requirements of Immanuel’s programmes.

7. Assessment and Student Development

The 2026 Prospectus describes assessment as including consideration of the student’s academic performance as well as participation, spiritual growth, dedication and motivation.

Assessment therefore forms part of the wider educational and ministry-development process at Immanuel.

8. Assessment Standards

Students are expected to complete assessments to the standard required for their programme.

Where a submission does not adequately demonstrate the required understanding, Immanuel may require the student to clarify, improve or resubmit the relevant work where appropriate.

9. Academic Integrity

Students are expected to maintain academic integrity in all assessments.

Students must not:

  • Submit another person’s work as their own.
  • Provide false information regarding an assessment.
  • Allow another person to complete an assessment on their behalf.
  • Deliberately misrepresent their academic work.

Where academic integrity concerns arise, Immanuel may investigate the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with its applicable procedures.

10. Assessment Records

Immanuel may maintain records of student assessments and academic results as part of the student’s academic record.

Students are encouraged to retain copies of submitted work and assessment-related communication for their own records.

11. Assessment Enquiries

Students who have questions regarding an assessment should contact Immanuel through the appropriate official communication channel.

Students should raise assessment-related queries as soon as reasonably possible so that clarification can be provided.
