Petition Calling for New Leadership at the CRL Rights Commission

Many Christians, church leaders, and members of the public across South Africa have become increasingly concerned about the direction, conduct, and public posture of the CRL Rights Commission under the leadership of its current Chairperson, Ms. Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva. Over recent years, public controversies, disputes surrounding the regulation of churches, resignations, and allegations connected to the Commission have caused many faith communities to lose confidence in the CRL’s ability to serve all religious groups fairly, impartially, and without prejudice.

A constitutional body tasked with protecting the rights of cultural, religious, and linguistic communities must remain neutral, balanced, and trusted by the people it serves. Many believers now feel that the current leadership of the Commission no longer reflects these principles, particularly regarding matters affecting the Christian community and the constitutional right to freedom of religion.

For this reason, concerned citizens, Christians, and religious leaders are calling for the removal of Ms. Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva as Chairperson of the CRL Rights Commission, and for leadership that will restore public trust, uphold constitutional freedoms, and engage all faith communities fairly and without bias.

If you believe in protecting religious freedom, constitutional fairness, and accountable leadership, we invite you to complete the petition form below and add your voice to this call for change.
